Just a few words on iPods, if you can, try not to run with them on during the TOF for a few reasons.
Most of the runs have narrow tracks in the route that can make it difficult to pass, if you can’t hear runners coming up behind you asking ‘politely’ to move over…then you are going to get squashed!
The marshals are not only there to wave at you, they are in position to warn you of any dangers or incidents ahead, plugged into an iPod you’ll not hear them.
The nature of the race does involved water, you will be crossing streams & definitely getting very wet on the beach run…salt water & iPods do not mix!
The TOF is designed to promoted camaraderie in the face of adversity, listening to an iPod how else are you going to join in the conversations on what the runners are going to do to the organisers at the end of the Tour!
So keep your iPod tucked safely away until after the race, you’ve spent a lot of money on it (or someone has!) & you don’t want it broken.
