Hill of Tarvit Race - Thanks

Unread post by Ken Morris »

Thanks must go to everyone associated with last night's race - runners, and volunteers A wet, dull, dreich day temporarily cleared a few hours before the start and the low cloud even parted as the runners set off over soggy trails and through muddy puddles, to offer up a brief glimpse of their target - the trig point on Tarvit Hill. Mother Nature, however, soon changed her fickle mind. The low cloud quickly descended again and as the leading runners left the Estate, down came the rain just to add more misery to tortured bodies - all beautifully encapsulated in Pete Bracegirdle's photographs, who along with marshall/marker Dave Francis and the Courier's intrepid reporter, Graham 'peg leg' Bennison were atop the Hill.
There was a much reduced entry for this popular race. Perhaps it was the weather, or was it that folk would rather watch Love Island? No matter, everyone who ran finished with a sense of achievement and all returned safely.
Thanks as well to our other volunteers who braved the elements and helped make the event go ever so smoothly -
