As of 5pm tonight ( 09/06/14 ) entries opened for the 8th Giffordtown 5K Road Race.

A Fife A.C organised event brought to you from the organisers of the Ravenscraig Park Mile Series and The 60th Anniversary Sub4 - Markinch Miracle Mile Road Race.

General Course Information: The race is held along a flat, fast out and back course on a quiet countryside road. Now in it's 8th year is one of the fastest 5k courses in the country. Ideal for setting a PB! as many runners have over the last 7 years.

Age: 12 years old or over on the day.

Date: Sunday 5th October 2014 ( Rescheduled from 12th October due to clash with xc relays )

Time: 11:00 am

Start / Finish Area: Approximately 150m from Giffordown Hall

Parking: At Giffordtown Hall car park, behind the hall.

Lead bike: There will be a lead bike to accompany the runners out to the 2.5k turning point and back.

Registration: In the Giffordtown Hall from 09:30am. Pick up your allocated race number on the morning from the registration point.

Entry Fee: £4.00 for Scottish Athletics affiliated runners and £6.00 for unaffiliated runners.

I received an early heads up from the Scottish Athletics Road Running and Cross Country Commission of a potential clash on Sunday 12th October with the District cross country relays on the same day.

As the Giffordtown 5k is made possible by the many club helpers and officials that turn out to help on the day and would otherwise be at the District Relay Championships, not to mention all the club runners too, the race has been rescheduled to Sunday 5th October. This was an unfortunate clash as the relays are traditionally held on the 2nd Saturday in October but due to other events at a new venue - Peebles high school, Sunday was the only option.

So far entry's are at 20 on entry central with the date now changed. I hope the new date fits in with everyone who has already entered? But I would totally understand if it did not fit in and make a full refund to anyone who has entered before today.
