Results Week Ending 24th June. Results Galore !!

Unread post by Graham Bennison »

This weeks results section is chocker block as the fixture list went into overload last weekend. Some races were bound to suffer and the Beveridge Park 5km did, clashing with the Black Rock Race and also the Glasgow Milers Meet on the same night. Hopefully club members, particularly from Kirkcaldy, will support the Bev PK on Friday 19th July.
With transport provided it was also distressing that only three boys (who performed admirably) made the trip up to Aberdeen for the Youth Development League. How upsetting it must be when a dedicated coach who has given decades of service sees 50 or so youngsters turning up for training and only three on the bus. Athletes and parents would do well to think on this. The Petrofec League is also at Aberdeen this Sunday 30th June...events for all ages including seniors. Will this event get more support ??
I have tried to list results where they are not already on the bulletin board (Glenrothes 10km, Mini Tour, Bev Pk are).

Would be good to see as many as possible at tomorrows Strawberry Run (Wed. 26th) ....whether you run or not its a good event to come along and just enjoy the evening.

The Scottish middle distance rankings for 2013 came in for some encouraging revision at the Glasgow Milers Meeting at Scotstoun last Friday producing some lead times over 1500m.
Ross Matheson (Lasswade) won the 1500m A race in 3 minutes 48.03 seconds outsprinting Andrew Butchart (Central) - 3:49.36. Fife under 20 junior Bruce Millar placed 7th shaving a whole five seconds from his best recording his first ever sub 4 minute time at 3 minutes 56.35 seconds.
Competing as one of the youngest athletes against older opposition, East of Scotland Under 14 boy’s 800m/1500m champion Adam Scott placed 12th in the D race just shading inside his previous best time with 4:25.53, topping the Scottish under 14 rankings.
Annabel Simpson placed 6th in the 1500m F race in 4:58.96 with Louise McCullagh 12th in the G race – 5;20.81.

The junior Mini Tour of Fife concluded the final event of the 5-race series at Kingsbarns last Friday.
A hectic week of five races in five days saw a record 107 young athletes complete all five events – West Sands beach race, East Lomond Hill Race, Balmullo Trail Race, Hill of Tarvit estate time trial and Kingsbarns race. The 2.1km time trial saw the highest attendance of 147 runners.
The Usain Bolt Sprinting Award for the fastest finishes of the week went to Lauran Tyson while the most Improved Tourist award was won by Aiden Preston. Blood, Sweat but No Tears Awards went to Tristram Stockwell and Daniel Campbell-Rodger who carried on regardless despite adversity ! All one hundred and seven finishers of the week saw their names go into the bag for the plum draw of two mountain bikes won by Ben Black and Annabelle Sey.
The bikes and goody bags could not have been possible but for the generous support of sponsors Keela, House Restaurants, Rhubarb Gifts, Active Fife and Imagin-Badges.
