Thank you from Scottish Athletics

Unread post by Ron Morrison »

As Convener of the SAL Road Running and Cross Country Commission I would like to congratulate Fife AC on hosting the 1st Mid Trail Running Championship in Scotland.

About a year ago, when the Commission conceived the idea of such a Championship, I mentioned it to Brian Cruickshank and Tony Martin who devised and refined the magnificent course that was run on Saturday. The reaction to the course was very favourable. Many mentioned that they thought they recognised parts of it – they were the ones who have run the Tour.

Of course we were blessed by the best weather of the year so far and that always puts everyone in a good mood but the success of the event can be judged by the number of athletes who waited in the Hall for the medal presentation.

This was Fife AC at its organisational best and we were rewarded on the field by Zach Delaney winning the U20 Championships and the Women’s team of Fiona Bracegirdle, Hilary Ritchie, Margaret Martin and Sandra Tulloch picking up the 3rd team medals. Zach will now be selected for Scotland at the Karrimor Trail Challenge in 2 weeks time.

Well done all and a big thank you to all the helpers who are listed below.
