Scottish 5km Road Championships & weekly Sri Chinmoy Race 1s

Our club women have once again shown the way to competing at the highest level in UK Athletics – the Road Relay Champs at Sutton Coldfield being the supreme test for club teams.

It has been largely a disappointing twelve past months for the club men (in teams) failing to finish a senior or under 20 team at the Scottish National XC and relying on two over 65’s to finish a senior team at the recent National Road Relays. The performance at the Devils Burdens was also somewhat muted by comparison to preceding years.

This posting is an effort to inspire some team endeavour for two forthcoming events.

The Scottish 5km Road Race Championships take place at Silverknowes on Wed. 1st May with a 7.30pm start. The course is ultra fast being even flatter than Giffordtown 5km (and that’s saying something !!).

SAL championship medals will be awarded to the first three individuals (men and women) and also the first three vet 35 (men and women). In addition team medals will be awarded to the first three men’s and women’s teams (three to count).
The race also incorporates the SAL Under-20 5km road championships and while there was a good entry for that last year in terms of individuals it would be great to see more teams at that level on May 1 this time around!
Under-20 SAL medals will be awarded to the first three men and women and also the first three men’s and women’s club teams (three to count).

All standards compete at this race as it doubles as a Sri Chinmoy weekly summer series event…all ages, all abilities.

Just to reassure folk out there that might be put off by the word Championship.....I've entered. Its also a weekly Sri Chinmoy race...all abilities, ages. Fast course.
