Sandy Slither - thank you

Unread post by LouB »

Well done and thank you to all the runners who gambled with the weather (or believed the forecast) and turned out for the Sandy Slither race: the rain cleared and provided good running conditions along this picturesque section of the Fife Coastal path. With entry fees and donations, over £100 was raised for Tushinde Children’s Trust http://tushinde.org.uk/.

Thanks are due to many people who helped this race to take place: firstly, the marshals who were (in position order along the route): Dave Francis, Anne Whiteford, Katie Jones and Sparky, Graham Kirby, Ron Hilditch, Tom Pairman, Hamish McLeod and the extremely efficient results team of Dharini Balasubramamiam and Ron Morrison. Many thanks to the home bakers who provided all the wonderful cakes as prizes: Linda Jackson, Carole Melville, Tom Ross and Sarah Wright. Thanks also to The Ship Inn, Elie Golf House Club and Elie Holiday Park and not forgetting Fife Council who provided a very necessary service and kept the toilets open at the start and to their transportation and park events sections.

Hope to see you again next year!

Andy W , Bill F and Lou B

PS. We wondered about changing the start time of the race so that catching the bus from Elie to arrive in Lower Largo in good time for the race is a feasible and attractive option – with the current start and bus times, runners would arrive either very early or very late. Any (polite) comments would be welcomed at sandy.slither@outlook.com
