Tayside and Fife Throws Programme Winter 2018 – 2019
Over the Winter of 2018 – 2019 scottishathletics, working alongside partner clubs in Tayside and Fife, have agreed to pilot a programme in Tayside and Fife which aims to support the continued development of throwing. The programme is primarily aimed at developing coaches.
What is involved:
These pilot coaching clinics are designed to help coaches develop a sound understanding of how to coach the event, building on the technical content presented on the Coaching Assistant and Athletics Coach Award. The sessions will involve practical activities using athletes to demonstrate key coaching points with clear take home messages for both coach and athlete going forward.
The activities taking place at Pitreavie Athletics Centre will focus on event specific – javelin, shot, discuss and hammer. The clinics in Dundee will cover Generic Throwing activities.

How to get involved:
In the pilot year the programme will be free of charge to coaches. Places are free to scottishathletics coach members with a valid coaching licence. Coaches can bring one athlete as a demonstrator on the day.
Coaches should register for sessions by following the links provided in this document. Please indicate your name, club (if applicable) and which session/s you are signing up for.
Who will deliver the programme:
The programme will be led by scottishathletics Coaching Co-ordinator, Alison Grey. Alison is a UKA Level
3 performance coach in Shot Put and Discus and has produced numerous District and National medallists as well as Internationalists in Shot Put, Discus Throw, Hammer Throw and Combined Events.
