Upcoming hill races

Unread post by Ian Hawkins »

There were good turnouts and performances from Fife AC runners last week end at Ben Lomond and Kinnoull last night. Reports to follow when results available. It would be good to keep the momentum going with the second of the six Scottish Hill Runners Championship races just around the corner. So, here are some details of a couple of races coming up over the next few weeks.

Saturday 26th May 2018 2pm
Glas Tulaichean Uphill, near Glenshee : This is one of the very few uphill-only events in the Scottish hill-running calendar, a 7.2km run with 670m of ascent to the Munro summit. The race is all on land rover track with a few stream crossings to negotiate (wet feet guaranteed!). Once at the top, you can retrieve your warm clothing from the land rover and make your way back down to the barn, where there will be tea, sandwiches and cakes to fill you up before the prizes are awarded. Entries on the day from 12:00 and close at 1:20pm. You must supply clothing to be taken to the summit and entries are restricted to over 17s.

Sunday 3 June 1pm - Yetholm Hill race (2nd SHR championship counter)
A very runnable hill race in the beautiful Cheviot hills on the border between Scotland and England. Length 12.8km, ascent 760m. It would be great if we could get sufficient representation from the men (Joc has the women's team covered) to enable us to count for the team championship. Senior men 4 no. and vets 3 no. needed.

Please check out the Scottish Hill Racing website for further details of both races. Both are entry on the day.

We will be running several cars to and from these races so can help with transport, advice on kit requirements etc. Any questions see me at Wetlands on Tuesday's or call on 07786 277530.
