East District Track & Field Championships, Grangemouth
Friday 12th May
Fantastic achievements were seen throughout at the East District Champs on Friday and Saturday. Following success at the 5k Champs in Edinburgh last Friday, Annabel Simpson won gold in the Women’s 1500m in 4.42.85. Also, winning gold on the night was Layla Zuill in the Women’s U15 200m running a superb time of 26.30.
Ben Sandilands won Silver in the U15 1500 in 4.25.31, with Owen Keddie finishing 6th in 4.44.42, and Peter Scott 9th 4.48.07
In the U17M 1500 Heats - Iain McWhinnie was 6th 4.31.05 and Gavin McWhinnie 4.33.64. Robert Sparks placed 3rd in his heat qualifying for the final, finishing 4th overall in 4.21.55.
Sam Fernando, running in the U20M 1500, finished 8th overall in 4.21.62. Mia Crickmar was 14th place in the Girls U15 1500 5:22.54.
In the U17W 200m Heats, Katie Gardiner finished 5th 27.86. In the Men’s 200m U17 heats 2nd Josh Spence 24.17, Cameron Marshall 4th 24.37, Louis Crickmar, 7th 27.45, and Ben Flint 6th 24.55. Josh Spence went through to the final 200m finishing 5th 23.82. Euan Boyle was 5th overall in the U20M 200m with a time of 24.51.
Over in the Triple Jump, Nana Aluoko was 1st U17M in 11.51m.
Saturday 13th May
On Saturday Layla Zuill continued her success winning her heat and semi-final race, in the U15G 100m, and won bronze in the Final in 12.80.

In the U17M 100m heats Nana Akuoko placed 4th overall 11.95, 5th Cameron Marshall 11.75, 10th Ben Flint 12.20, and 15th Gregor Campbell 12.94.
In the U17M 100m Finals, Cameron Marshall finished 4th 11.88 and 6th Nano Akuoko 12.17.

Bronze medals were won by Tristan Rees in Men’s 3000 U20/Snr Steeple Chase in 9.58.32, and Ben Sandilands in the U15M 300m in 39.59.

In the Men’s 400m U17 Final Josh Spence was 4th 52.62, and U20 400m Final Euan Boyle 4th in 51.49.

Katie Gardner finished 8th in the U17W 300m Final in 45.43, and Anna Dalglish 4th U15G 800m in 2:24.71

Men’s U17 Shot Gregor Campbell threw 9m 79 to finish 4th and 21m 58 in the discus placing 7th overall.
