TOUR OF FIFE 2017

Unread post by Frank McLaren »

A few points regarding this year's event:

The dates for this year are Wednesday 5th July to Sunday 9th July inclusive.
Entries will be accepted via Entry Central on Wednesday 10th May.
Happy to announce sponsorship of this year's Tour by the Morton Running Company. Dave Morton, formerly of Carnegie Harriers, has recently opened an independent, dedicated running store at 4 Whytehouse Avenue, Kirkcaldy selling footwear as his main focus and retailing brands such as Brooks, Hoka, Newton, Walsh, Mizuno and Inov-8. https://www.facebook.com/mortonrunningco/ We wish him every success in his new venture.

The general format of races is intended to be:-
• Day 1: Wednesday 5th July: Beach Race, West Sands in St Andrews.
• Day 2: Thursday 6th July: Hill Race Starting in the Falkland Estate then up the path to Craigmead, across the road, up to the summit of the East Lomond, down the “main” path to the top of the steps, just inside the woods take a left down a forest track to avoid the steps and finish at the bottom of said track in the woods above the site of the old factory.
• Day 3: Friday 7th July: Time Trial One mile along Kirkcaldy Promenade in the direction of the prevailing wind. The leaders out first in a head to head followed by the next fastest pairings at 30second intervals.
• Day 4: Saturday 8th July: Road Race 5k on Boblingen Way in Glenrothes starting at the Lomond Centre, an “out and back” course
• Day 5: Sunday 9th July: Trail Race in Falkland Estate, basing ourselves in Strathmiglo Village Hall. The start will be about a mile from the hall on the tarmac path from the chicken farm and this course will be long enough and sufficiently testing to potentially make a difference to overall positions.

Final details will be published in due course but the intention is to provide five races reflecting different disciplines and hopefully affording the "specialists" in each discipline a little advantage over their competitors.
