Results Week Ending 18th February

Unread post by Graham Bennison »

There are some results here which also appeared last week. This is because the Fife Herald and Fife Free Press did not have room in last weeks editions to carry all the copy submitted, the Devils Burdens report was quite lengthy. Hopefully the reports missed out will appear in this weeks press. Can I also ask for help.....the more folk that let me know either by phone, email or Facebook the better. Too often left peering into a murky crystal ball !! Then...sometimes people complain when thngs are reprted wrong or missed....but never mention when they are all correct !

Fife AC junior Bruce Millar experienced the ups and downs of athletics over the past couple of weeks competing at the Glasgow Emirates Indoor Arena.
Balwearie pupil Bruce posted the top performance by the clubs juniors at the Scottish Schools Indoor Championships claiming the over 16 boy’s silver 1500m medal in 4 minutes 04.89 seconds after winning his heat - 4:18.50.
Returning to the Emirates Arena last Sunday for the Scottish Senior Indoor Championships Bruce had hoped to further improve on his 4:04.56 over 1500m set last September at Grangemouth. The heats saw Bruce place 4th timed at 4 minutes 06.68 seconds. Over 50 veteran John Thomson, Coaltown of Balgonie, placed 8th in his heat timed at 4:29.83.
The final proved to be a rough and tumble affair and Bruce was twice bundled off the track unable to complete the race. However, hopefully more ‘ups’ will be ahead for this talented young athlete.
Injury niggles curtailed the training programme for Stephanie Pennycook who after six weeks out returned to make the Schools 1500m final after placing 4th in her heat – 5:04.13. Stephanie finished a commendable 5th in the final timed at 4:55.64.
Other results include:- Over 16 Boys 400m 5 Niall Curley 51.72 (heat 2nd 52.29). 2nd heat Jack Robb 52.55, 4th heat Sam Nicoll 56.80, 5th Cameron Thomson 58.10. 800m 5th heat Liam Sleigh 2:12.37.
Under 16 Boys. 60m. 8th heat. Struan Christie 10.24. 1500m 6th heat Adam Scott 4:41.13, 7th heat Stuart Aitken 5:14.94.

The most heartening recent results also came from the Emirates Stadium as sixteen under 12 athletes contested the Scottish Super Teams Indoor Championhips. The youngsters made up teams of four with each athlete featuring in 60m sprint, long jump, shot and a relay. Well dome to all involved.
