Fife AC athletes travelled to Broxburn last Saturday for the final round of the East of Scotland Cross-Country League returning with the under 13 boy’s championship.
East of Scotland champion Adam Scott, Kirkcaldy, led home the under 13’s field, unbeaten over the league season. George Rees, Crail, followed home in 8th with Kirkcaldy junior Stuart Aitken in 13th tying up victory on the day and over the season.
Tristan Ree, Crail, led home the under 15 boy’s team finishing 11th and with Ryan Brocklebank, Crail, in 24th chased by Sam Fernando, Gateside, in 27th secured third team place over the season.
The under 15 girl’s team of Ana Cruickshanks, Crail, Katie Aitken, Kirkcaldy and Ailsa Cruickshanks, Lundin Links, achieved 5th place over the season.
The Fife AC women ranked 5th for the season with the veteran men in 4th the other age group making the top five teams in their category.
I have to say personally that it saddens me that the numbers attending the East League appear to be getting less and less - the only fixtures catering for U11's through to veterans. I can recall a fixture where we once finished six men's teams. Many thanks to those who supported the league effort this season. For most only the Scottish National championships at Falkirk next month remains.
