Devils Burdens reccs DOGS

Unread post by Graham Bennison »

Hi Graham,
Carnegie Harriers were checking out trails from Holl Reservoir to West Feal firebreak this morning. We witnessed about 12 runners in a group letting the 3 dogs with them, 2 Collies and a large light brown breed run freely after sheep from the path they were taking from the West Feal access road to East Feal, from the finger post. They were too far off to address this unacceptable behaviour which could have resulted in the dogs being shot by a Farmer. It does however reflect badly on runners in general and the path they were on is part of the Devils Burdens Leg3. May be a call for a warning to be put out before next weekend on the need for control of dogs and a responsible attitude towards Sheep that a pregnant. We encountered many others who were showing respect by keeping their dogs under control.

I was out with a large party of Fife AC runners ( 20 no.) on a recce of leg 2 of the DB relay's this morning. There were no dogs in our party but if anyone turns up at future recce's I'll certainly ask them to keep their dogs under control at all times. Ian H.
