Devil's Burdens Details

Unread post by Fife AC Admin »

Route details and entry form here.

New routes have been devised for leg 3 and 4 to avoid the congestion at Holl Reservoir. Legs 1 and 2 are unchanged.

The entry form has been updated to add the following categories: FV50, MV60, FV60, Mixed V40.

Prizes will be awarded to the first team in each of these categories, subject to there being at least three teams competing in that category.

Hi Frank and team,

Could somebody please clarify:

on Leg 3, apart from staying off the road going down Maspie Glen, are any parts of the route between checkpoints compulsory? (eg the path through the woods after East Feal)

on Leg 4, after the 1st checkpoint at the road, must you cross straight over the road or can you run up the road?

Thanks

Malcolm

Hi Malcolm (and all DB runners!), fair point and sorry that we hadnt made it clear enough:

In the need to respect our landowners' interests, such as protecting livestock, not damaging fencing etc., the race combines compulsory routed sections (marked with a red line on the maps) with 'free' sections (where runners can choose their own route to the next checkpoint). Leg 1 has no 'free' section, but the other legs all have some.

I hope this clarifies your specific query Malcolm - yes, through the woods on the path on leg 3 after East Feal please; and its up to you how you get to East Lomond summit after the Craigmead checkpoint on leg 4 (tho' surely you're just messing with my head on that one! :h: )

Cheers!

Thanks very much Roger

Its just that i thought perhaps for safety you might want to make people go straight across the road. But thinking about it you have them running down the same stretch of road on Leg 3 anyway. Ill shut up!
