John Thomson took his first international title at the European Veterans Championships - Izmir Turkey today (Mon 25th Aug). After years of European Bronze medals and World Silver and Bronze medals, Thomson the double double indoor MV55 Masters Scottish and British Champion over 800m & 1500m added the European MV55 1500m title to his other four Golds this year alone!
John won Scotland's first medal of the championships, winning the Gold Medal and becoming European MV55 1500m Champion. Taking the race on from the start, John controlled the race, building up the pace with each lap until he ran away from the field to win by almost 5 secs from the Italian and Polish athlete, finishing in a time of 4.31:82.
